ANKARA - Stating that almost a thousand people were detained within the week, HDP Group Deputy Chairperson Saruhan Oluç said: "You cannot prevent HDP's political activities with operations. HDP will continue its struggle for democracy, freedom, justice and peace."
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Group Deputy Chairman Saruhan Oluç made evaluations about the agenda at the press conference he held at the parliament.
Stating that the detention operations against HDP is continuing, Oluç said nearly a thousand citizens were detained within the week. Adding that there are people who contracted the coronavirus under custody, Oluç said: "These detentions are completely unlawful. These are the detentions of those who carry out democratic politics, we condemn their detention. These are the detentions carried out to prevent the HDP from working, to prevent the HDP's political activities. Only yesterday people were detained in Şırnak, which added to the dozens of detentions made in the last two weeks. Şırnak is a place specially chosen by the Ministry of Interior and the government. They carried out all kinds of election frauds in Şırnak, they shifted voters. We have proven it with documents. This was not enough, they appointed trustees for Şırnak and its districts, seized the municipalities, and usurped the voters' will. All their aims are to prevent HDP from continuing its political activities. The governments aim with these operations is to liquidate the HDP."
